Happy Saturday, babes! I can’t believe “Summer” is coming to an end. I say it in quotes since it really is Summer weather year round here in San Diego 😉 The girls are going back to school next week which means the chaos of drop offs and extra curricular activities will be in full swing.

No matter how chaotic our daily life gets, I always take a few minutes at the end of the day for some self care. One of the newest products I have added to my routine and seen major benefits from is Vitamin C. It has so many benefits from boosting your immune system to improving iron absorption, but it is also an essential for glowing skin! And while taking it orally is the most common method, applying Vitamin C directly to your face is 20x more effective for your skin! Whether you have oily or dry skin, you are sixteen or sixty, Vitamin C will do fantastic things for your skin!

Face serums containing Vitamin C can get pretty pricy online and in stores. Instead of paying $100 or more, I like to make it myself! I have included the quick recipe below.

Ingredients

Vitamin C Crystals / Amber Glass Bottles / Moisturizing Oil

You will also need a stemless wine glass and a teaspoon.

Directions

Put 3 teaspoons of the purest water you have into the glass (we have a Brita that I use for filtered water). Then add 1 teaspoon of the Vitamin C Crystals. Start mixing until the crystals are completely dissolved. I like to swirl the cup, mix it quickly with a spoon, and will also put the base of the cup under running warm water to help heat the glass and mixture. Continue to do this until all the crystals are dissolved. Lastly, I add in 1 teaspoon of the moisturizing oil and stir everything together. Once you have your final product pour it into the amber glass bottles, the dark glass limits oxidization and keeps the sunlight out to prevent expiring.

*If you are worried about putting oil on your face you can leave it out or substitute more water.

This easy peasy recipe makes enough to last me for a week if I apply it every night. I like to make it weekly to ensure I am getting the maximum benefits for my efforts (I mean, it is one more step I need to remember when I am exhausted at the end of the day). If you apply other products to your face as well, the Vitamin C is great under any of them. It truly is one of the very few cure-all serums out there and my secret to young skin!

Please let me know if you girls try this and what other serums you use and swear by!
