Finding Confidence & Persevering

Life throws us disappointment, comparison, change, insecurities, rejection, and more. Tips for finding strength, confidence in yourself, and lifting your self esteem in order to persevere. #quotes #thoughts #inspiration #motivation #happiness

Surprised by the title? Me too.

I know my blog is typically a place to shop fun sales or a resource for planning your next family vacation, but my heart has been heavy this week. I honestly had no intention of writing a post like this but while editing these photos I can’t help but think you can visually see my struggle. While I’m not going to go into details about it, I will share what has been working for me to overcome the hurt because I think it can apply to so many situations. And more so because it could help even one person.

I don’t know if this Mercury Retrograde is to blame, but I’ve been seeing some of my favorite bloggers open up way more on social media this week and share their struggles. From Amber Fillerup talking about feeling overwhelmed and picking three things to focus on each day (highly recommend watching her IG stories about this) to Dani Austin telling her followers they are a cockroach and they can survive anything (ha!). It’s comforting to know you are not alone. I read a quote on Olivia Rink‘s blog recently from Regina Brett, “If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back”. Everyone has something they are struggling with, and even if you feel tremendously alone in your fight, we are all cut from the same cloth… aka don’t believe the social media highlight reel.

Disappointment. Comparison. Change. Insecurities. Rejection.

I’m sure you can relate to every one of these in some shape or form. All of these things can knock us down right on our butt and getting over it is easier said then done. You can’t always control what happens to you but you can control how you react. So take your time to grieve or be angry, go through a whole box of tissues (or oreos šŸ˜‰) and then pick yourself up. It is up to you to make yourself feel better. You have the choice to grow from the experience or stay where you are.

One of the biggest things that has helped me is to shift my focus away from the things in my life that I have no control over, to the things that are good and life fulfilling. Did someone call to check in on you? Put more intention into that relationship. Did the door close on an opportunity? Make an effort to get out there and find another one. What I’m trying to say is channel that negative energy into something positive and let go of the things you cannot change. I know this could be the hardest thing to do in the moment, but letting go doesn’t mean giving up. It means releasing that negative energy, coming up with a solution, finding peace, and most importantly discovering confidence in yourself. Because girl, look how much you have already overcome in life. You will survive this too!

This is the part where I am supposed to take my own advice šŸ˜‰

It’s been a rough few weeks, but I can finally say all these things without crying and without having to say I’m still processing. I’m choosing to move forward and in doing so, I want to use my little corner of the internet as a platform to inspire change for the better in you guys too. If just one person releases the feelings their hurt has held captive, then every vulnerable word was worth it. You can do this.

Thank you for sharing in our lives, celebrating our accomplishments, and sticking around through our challenges. So thankful for this little community!

So encouraging and thank you for sharing. We all have our own battles and it’s great to hear that we’re not alone. Not that it’s good that anyone has struggles, but good to know we don’t have to hide away and go through it by ourselves. I’ve been going through a little rut too, and this advice is very helpful.
