I’m totally having flashbacks of being a little kid and going to sleep with 20 braids in my hair to wake up with this style. Ha! Now, as a mom of two, I cherish my sleep (sleeping with braids sounds miserable) and I don’t really have time to plan the night before for my hairstyles. After looking on Amazon the other day, I found a quick and easy solution, added to cart, and two days later I tried it out! I love how it turned out and it’s so fun for the Summertime! I was on Instagram stories shortly after I did this and so many of you were asking about my hair. As promised, here is the super easy way to achieve this beachy mermaid look!

The secret to these mermaid waves is the Bed Head Deep Waver tool.

This tool was super easy to use and my entire head took about ten minutes. I love that it has multiple heat settings, so it is great for all hair types, from thin to coarse hair. It has a plate locking switch for easy storage and travel making it great for bringing on your next beach vacation!

A few tips for using this:

Section your hair the same way you would if you were to straighten or curl it. Then work from the bottom section up.

Start a few inches away from your root and lightly clamp a small section of hair between the barrels working your way to the end of your hair. I found that going about 1 inch down from the last clamp looks the best. If you do it too close to the previous clamp it will undo part of the previous wave.

Don’t just go straight down with the wave tool (parallel to the ground). I think it looks more natural if you have a slight upward bend in the tool.

I also wanted to mention that I ended up using a styling creme after my hair was all wavey. Once I finished waving it, I brushed through one side and my hair went super poofy. I highly recommend using your fingers to smooth out the waves instead of a hair brush. If this does happen, or you just need to tame the waves, the easiest way is to use a small amount of styling creme on your hands and run your fingers through your hair concentrating most of the product on the bottom half.

What do you girls think? Are wavers the new curling irons? It just might replace mine for the Summer!
