Some girls are into shoes, some girls collect designer handbags, some girls splurge at Sephora… my guilty pleasure is swimsuits. I own way more then I’d like to admit. However, I am also a tough critic when it comes to swimsuits and I like to think I know what makes one great. I’ve spent years searching high and low to find good swimsuits at good price points. I’ve bought, tried on, and returned so, so many. Swimsuit shopping can be one of the hardest and most frustrating tasks ever. With Spring and Summer right around the corner, I hope to be a resource for you and help you save some time hunting for that perfect suit.
One of my favorite places to buy swimwear is Aerie. Spoiler alert: I love them. They have a ton of options, are great quality, and they come in tall sizes! And when they’re all under $40, you can totally buy more than one! I will share all the styles I own what I love about each below. They may not have these exact swimsuits still in stock, however, they consistently have the same styles and just change out the patterns/colors. Aerie Strappy Back One Piece Swimsuit
This is the first one piece swimsuit I purchased from Aerie and it still remains my favorite. I love that it comes in tall sizes, as most of my height is in my torso. Finding swimsuits that are long enough to prevent wedgies and extra cleavage can be challenging, but this one checks all the boxes! It is also completely adjustable. I wore it postpartum when my body was changing and I was able to loosen/tighten the straps in back as needed. It is made from a pique, textured fabric which is a medium weight that holds you in and smoothes everything out. Also, it has removable pads and full booty coverage. It really is the perfect one piece! I love it so much that I just bought it in black (below)!
Aerie Ribbed Henley One Piece Swimsuit
This picture is from our trip to Mexico last year and it’s making me crave a vacation! The swimsuit is the same style as the current henley one pieces, the only difference is the tie up instead of a button up. Again the fabric is textured and a little thicker then your typical swimsuit so it smoothes and holds everything in. There is a low scoop in back that is super flattering, yet it holds in your side boob which is usually in issue in these types of swimsuits. I also love wearing this as a body suit!
V Bandeau Bikini Top + High Cut Cheeky Bottom
My newest Aerie swim purchase! I’m obsessed with this two piece bikini. The fabric, patterns, and colors make it look way more expensive then it really is. I love the structured V in the top that is both unique and gives some dimension to the straight across bandeau. I did size up to a medium for more coverage. The bottoms are high waisted which is great if your lower abdomen is an area you want hidden (like me) and the high cut leg makes your legs look super long! The bottoms are really cheeky and they hold everything in without sacrificing comfort. I will be wearing this all Summer!
Aerie Longline Bandeau Bikini Top
I almost didn’t include this one, but it’s still available on their website so I thought I would mention it real quick. This longline bikini top is the only one I don’t love from Aerie. On me personally, I think it hits and at unflattering spot below my chest. It goes down past the smallest point of my torso, which in turn makes it highlight a wider part of my stomach. I do think it would be cute with some super high waisted pants or a skirt, so not as much of your stomach is showing.
