Hayden is THREE!
We sure have had a busy weekend! First we celebrated Hayden’s birthday on Saturday and then it was Father’s Day. Even with all the chaos, it was definitely worth it to be able to celebrate two of the people I love the most!
I have been sharing on Instagram the past few weeks of us preparing for Hayden’s mermaid-themed birthday party so I wanted to share the final outcome with you all. I love how everything turned out! Here are all the details along with links to everything in case you are throwing a mermaid party too.
This was the snack and treat table. I started with a plain white floor length table cloth, layered a metallic tablecloth on top, and then fish net. We had gold fish, pretzels (drift wood), grapes (fish eggs), colored rice krispies (coral), salt water taffy, gummy sharks, sour straws (seaweed), and pirate booty. We showed off all the sea-themed names with these labels from Etsy. I also placed some adorable mermaid straws, plates, and napkins on the table.
The balloon arch was one of my favorite parts of the whole party! It was actually super easy and affordable. I used these balloons (which my husband blew up using an air compressor) and stuck them in this garland strip. I ended up leaving it up for a few days after the party because we all loved it so much!
Since the weather was so nice, I knew most people would be hanging out in our backyard. I wanted it to be just as festive! I hung some jelly fish on our trellis that I made from paper lanterns, streamer, and ribbon. We put a few tables on our deck for people to sit with some simple flowers from Trader Joes.
This was the outside table that we used to put the main food on (we kept it easy with pizza). I made the mermaid scale backdrop out of paper plates from the dollar store! They are all taped onto a piece of white hard board to give it some dimension. The whole thing cost less than $15 and it turned out way better then I expected!
Also, we went to a party a few months ago that provided themed dress up items for all the kids and my girls loved it! I knew I wanted to do this for Hayden’s party too so I grabbed a few crowns and starfish wands for the girls and pirate things for the boys. All the costumes were from from Party City and the treasure chest was borrowed from a friend.
Last, but not least, the goodie bags! The mermaid print bags were so cute and I filled them with scented bubbles, stickers, and candy necklaces. I tied one of these tags on each one.
And that’s it! The kids had a blast, our friends enjoyed themselves, and most importantly Hayden was celebrated and loved.
