I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve stood in my closet, staring at the racks of clothes, yelling “I have nothing to wear”!!! And my husband’s response is always “you have sooo many clothes”! But this time it’s like a light bulb went off and I found the problem: I am always buying trendy items. Dresses, jumpsuits, frilly tops.. Things that excite me! But how often am I really wearing those cute new dresses? I pretty much live in jeans (okay fine, leggings) and tees. This is what I should be buying… basics.
I immediately loaded the kids up in the car and headed to my local Madewell store. No joke you guys, like 30 seconds later we were on our way! It was a record. The reason I thought of them is because Madewell takes basics seriously. They have top quality clothing that looks and feels way more expensive then it actually is. You can get a great tee for around $20 that will last you years! And they offer a variety of sleeve lengths, neck lines, colors, and fits. I knew I would find some basic tees that I could count on wearing often (unlike those more trendier pieces). I ended up finding so many good basics, including tees, denim, and even a pair of sandals. I couldn’t wait to share it all with you!
Cognac Stripe Tank – I love the color of this tank!! It’s also a bit thicker material so it’s not sheer and I can wear it year round, just add a jacket in the Fall/Winter. I ended up sizing up to a medium in this one cause I wanted it looser.
Purple Stripe Tank – I love the retro stripes! This tank is a little shorter then the first one, but I often do a front tuck with my tops in my high waisted jeans so I don’t mind.
Plain White Tee – A closet staple. This one is so soft and I love the side slits that look cute with a front tuck. Planning to wear this with everything from leggings to a leather jacket.
Navy Stripe Tee – I am a sucker for stripes! This tee is light and airy and perfectly draped. For a more fitted look size down, for a more oversized look like mine get your regular size. I’m wearing a small.
Multi Stripe Tee – This is the same style as the one above. I may have liked it so much since the tan stripe is the same color as the sandals I found!
I looove their denim! It’s such good quality for a great price, especially if you can get them on sale!! I got my usual size (26) and I think they run true to size.
Lighter, Distressed Denim – I love the high waist on these!! And the raw hem looks so good over sandals and booties! They are also fairly stretchy making them hug in all the right places and comfortable. This is one of my new favorite pairs!!
Darker Denim – I love this classic pair. I feel like I could wear these on a casual work day to the office or dressed up in the evenings. They also have some stretch and are super comfortable.

Lace-Up Sandals – I had heard such good things about these sandals as far as quality and comfort. I believe they keep bringing them back every year. I was so excited to finally get my hands on a pair! I know these will match with almost everything in my closet. Great quality shoe for the price! I am typically a 7.5 or 8, and the size 8 fit perfect.
