I am so excited to write this post today! I have been dying to try out the Kristin Ess Rose Gold Temporary Tint for months. I actually bought it awhile ago and it’s been sitting on my vanity waiting ever since. It just never seemed like the right time, we had quite a few big events in the last few months. So now that all of that has happened I decided to pull the trigger. And I am so happy I did!
I really like the results, but I love that it’s temporary. After dying my hair dark a few years ago and then trying to go back to blonde (every blonde’s worst nightmare), I’ve been super hesitant with trying any other dyes and colors. I don’t want to ruin the color that I worked so long and hard for. Luckily, everything I have read about it says your hair will be back to normal within 3 washes, maybe even less if you use a clarifying shampoo. I will be sure to update this to let you know if this is true to me as well.
The Application Process
Alright, let’s get into it. This is how I applied and what I learned along the way.
First, I hopped in the shower and shampooed my hair as normal. The bottle instructions say that the more wet your hair is, the less pink tone it will soak up. Think of your hair as a sponge that can only hold so much. So after I shampooed, I brushed my hair and towel dried it. I then had my husband spray on the dye while I stood in the shower. I let it sit for what I felt was 1-2 minutes and then rinsed it out. I followed up by conditioning my hair as normal.
Note: It smells really florally and nice, but make sure you have a window open because too much of any scent can be overpowering. Especially when you are in an enclosed shower like I was. My hair does smell really good after though!
After this I towel dried my hair again, brushed it out, and started blow drying. As my hair started to dry I noticed that it didn’t pick up as much pink as I hoped it would. I think I overestimated the dryness of my hair before I sprayed the color on. I continued to blow dry my hair until it was just slightly wet (but definitely not dry enough to use hot tools on, you know what I mean?).
On to round two… I stood back in the shower with my slightly damp hair and had my husband spray the pink tint on again. You guys, I used an entire bottle! Obviously I have a ton of hair, any normal person will not need this much. Ha! I let the tint sit on there for about 2 minutes then rinsed and conditioned. After that I got out my blow dryer again because I couldn’t wait to see the final color and this is it!
It was so windy while we were trying to take these photos! I am literally LOLing at the picture above, but I think it really shows exactly where I sprayed the product. I focused mostly in the front up to my hair line to frame my face and then the bottom half of the rest of my hair. I also think it really shows how the darker parts of my hair, especially the underneath, didn’t soak up the product. The only con of this hair tint is that it’s not for dark hair.
Overall, I think the Kristin Ess Rose Gold Tint is the perfect product to achieve an instant blush hair color! For only $12, it is a great option to try something new without the commitment. I really love how it turned out and it was super easy to use. Highly recommend!
