Our 4 Year Old’s Favorite Activities For Quiet Time

About 8 months or so ago, our 4 year old dropped her nap. She was such a great napper and I really looked forward to that little break everyday while both kids were asleep. Okay maybe not a break, but a chance to get at least one thing done. So now we are in that weird in-between stage where she isn’t quite ready for an all day school but also too big for a nap and sometimes struggles to play alone. So when the younger one goes down, she engages in some “quiet time” where she loves to read, use her iPad, and do arts & crafts. Most days she will do these by herself but occasionally I join her too! Here are some ideas to keep your child busy during the oh so precious nap time.

We recently discovered these giant coloring rolls from Omy. You can color them on the ground, on a wall, or as a table cloth. They come in a ton of different themes so you can find one that will interest your child. Our favorite one is the Fantasic roll that combines fairy tale like images including princesses and super heros! They also come in city specific themes which I think would be so fun if you are planning a trip somewhere to get familiar with major landmarks or to remember a trip you had. Omy also offers a ton of other fun activities for your kids such as coloring puzzles, coloring masks, coloring placemats, and all the crayons or markers you might need.

Other Favorite Quiet Time Activities:

Kid scissors and Construction Paper

Colored Pencils, Crayons, Markers

^ Cheaper if you buy the whole bundle here 🙂

Watercolor painting

LeapPad

We have this case to keep the games and tablet together.

Legos

Playdough

Workbooks that are age appropriate

A few of these things, such as the markers and small legos, are things I don’t set out when her little sister is awake and playing too. So it’s kinda like a treat that she gets to play with these during quiet time and she gets excited about them. I hope you found a suggestion that will interest you and your kiddo.. and let’s be honest, one that will save your sanity! You got this, mama! Let me know in the comments below if you have a quiet time activity that you love, we are always looking for new ideas to try.
