Happy Sunday, friends! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. We tried a new restaurant Friday night and today we get to go meet my sweet friend’s new baby, so excited!
It is still about 80 degrees here in San Diego, but I’m trying to embrace the change in seasons by pairing sweaters with my favorite denim shorts and sipping on iced pumpkin spiced lattes. Honestly, this is about as “Fall” as we get here! But I know other places are cooling down and I still like to add some cozier items to my wardrobe when I can, so I wanted to talk Fall fashion today. I have ten different trends that are super cute and trendy, but still really practical and easy to incorporate into your wardrobe.
Trend #1: Animal Prints
This comes back in style every Fall and winter, but with a little tweak. Leopard print is everywhere (I’m loving it by the way) and now I am even seeing some tiger stripes and snakeskin print. If you just want a subtle hint this animal print trend throw on a denim jacket with a printed skirt, add some printed booties, or in a soft color palette like this neutral leopard sweater.
Trend #2: Wide Brim Hats
I love a good wide brim hat year round, but I’m trading in my straw ones for felt/wool ones for the Fall and Winter. This cream hat is one of my all time favorites (I’m sure you have seen it all over my Instagram). I also mix in a camel or black hat this time of year. Plus, hats give us more opportunities to hide our hair when it really needs to be washed, so it’s a win-win!
Trend #3: Athleisure/Sweats/Coordinating Sets
The athleisure look started with Lululemon and people wearing leggings as pants a few years ago and it has morphed into this huge trend that I think is here to stay. It’s a nice way to be comfortable but still show off your personal style. Throw on some leggings with sneakers and a trendy jacker, wear biker shorts, or even a coordinating jogger.
Trend #4: Tie Dye and Neon
I had no idea I would be so into this trend, but I have hopped on this train! I mostly love to mix it in with the athleisure trend. Think oversize shirts, crop tops, sweatshirts… They are great for transitioning into Fall, while the bright colors keep your wardrobe looking fun and fresh.
Trend #5: Small Bags
Teeny tiny purses are everywhere right now! You definitely don’t have to go that tiny, especially if your a mom like me who carries diapers, wipes, etc. Incorporate this trend by choosing a smaller bag to use in the evenings and date nights.
Trend #6: Silky Fabrics
Hello, satin and silky materials! I’ve been seeing it everywhere and I really love it because it is such an easy way to dress up an outfit but still feel comfortable. Plus, you can find them now at so many amazing price points. I love the 90’s style slip dresses, midi skirts, and pairing a satin cami with my favorite mom jeans.
Trend #7: Gold Dainty Accessories
I’ve been a long time fan of dainty gold jewelry, but it is more popular than ever right now. Girls are layering them and piling them on, the more the merrier. Some of my favorites include stacking rings, ear huggies, and layered necklaces.
Trend #8: Cropped Jackets
For the past year we have really seen crop tops become super on trend and now I’m seeing a ton of cropped jackets. I think its a fun way to bring that style into the Fall and Winter. You still stay warm and comfy but it gives you that same effect.
Trend #9: Platform Shoes
It’s totally a mix of the 70’s and 90’s. A great way to give yourself some height, make you look fresh and young, but are still super comfortable and easy to walk in.Wear a white sneaker with a chunky platform for more casual days or dress up your outfit with a platform open toe sandal or a mule.
Trend #10: Minimal Makeup
Over the years we have moved more and more towards a heavy contour, highlighting, and smokey eyes. However, I feel like the trend is starting to reverse and lean towards more natural looks. No-makeup makeup is huge! It’s all about taking care of your skin, eating healthy, and letting your skin show through while focusing on the features you love the most like brows or lashes. I think big brows and eyelash extensions have made this trend more popular.
