Good Morning! We had the absolute best weekend on the water! I actually had booked this boat reservation months ago and forgot about it, but it was perfect timing as my aunt was in town visiting. It was the perfect way to spend a day in San Diego seeing all of Mission Bay, watching the sunset, and relaxing. I asked Hayden what her favorite part of the boat ride was and she said “the whole entire time”. I highly recommend Duffy Boat of San Diego for some family fun and will include everything you need to know about them below!
All About San Diego Duffy Boats
Duffy boats are electric boats that cruise slow and quietly. The best part is that you don’t need a license to drive (it’s similar to driving a golf cart)! They can hold up to 11 people. There is an on deck cooler, windows that can zip closed if you are cold, a sturdy table, and a bluetooth sound system. They also provide life jackets for the kids! It was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful! They made sure to go over safety, how to operate the boat, and provided a map for us.
We did the 90 minute rental on their snug boat. It was the perfect amount of time to go all around the bay and enjoy a glass of wine (or two). We saw tons of pelicans, seals, jet skiers, and other awesome boats! We brought with us a few snacks, cheese & crackers, chips & salsa, and beverages. You are allowed to drink alcohol on the boat, but no glass. Jeff made us an awesome 80’s playlist to cruise too as well, ha!
I wanted to quickly touch on how covid-19 is affecting the boat rentals. They are still open but are limiting their rentals. You have to wear a face mask when getting on/off the boat and interacting with the employees. Once you are on the boat you can remove your masks. Also be mindful of who is coming on the boat with you, as we only had family with us.
Before you book, definitely check on Groupon for a discount! I was able to reserve our San Diego duffy boat through there for less!
We will 100% be doing this again! It is so great for an adult mini booze cruise or for family fun. We even saw a bachelorette party getting off one of the boats when we were getting on ours! Whether you are a local or just visiting, definitely check them out for something fun and different to do in San Diego!
