My girls are officially on spring break and we sure have started it off with a bang! We went to the desert yesterday to see California’s super bloom (which was amazing), hung out at the beach this morning, and then spent the evening at the park. While we were there we thought we would incorporate a few activities from our new Galileo Camps Zoom, Fly, Bolt, Blast Steam Handbook. It is so important for us to continue educating and stimulate their minds while they are on break from school and this book is such a fun way to do that!
Along with their project handbook, Galileo offers camps for children from pre-k to 10th grade. Their camps teach kids to be innovators through STEAM-based learning. STEAM learning incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. It is so important because it sets our kids up for a better future, to be able to problem solve and develop their critical thinking skills.
Gracyn chose to build this straw tower out of the Zoom, Fly, Bolt, Blast Steam Handbook. It was so fun to create this together, but it was even more exciting for us as parents to watch her learn about trestles and become more confident in her creative choices. One of my favorite things about being a parent is seeing her develop and grow. I know she is going to change the world one day!
Once we finished the straw tower, Gracyn was so proud of what she had made. She was going through the book picking out all the other projects she wanted to do next, there are so many great ones. We can’t wait to do more with her this week while she is out of school!
I was just on their website and found out that Galileo is offering a summer camp at Gracyn’s elementary school. I know she will have so much fun and I am going to sign her up. Definitely check out their camp locations (they have 67!) to see if there is one near you so your kids can experience it for themselves this summer!
Galileo graciously gave me a discount code for you all. Make sure to use code SUMMER30 to save $30 on your camp purchase. *Discount valid at any Camp Galileo or Galileo Summer Quest location for the 2019 season, where space is available. Combinable only with Multi Session and Refer A Friend discounts.
Both Galileo’s handbook and camps are a great way to teach kids to try new things, safely make mistakes and learn from them, and to be creative without fear. I witnessed this first hand while helping our girls build the straw tower at the park tonight. It was such a fun way to enjoy some time outside as a family while also being very enriching for our kids.
Please tag me on Instagram if you make any projects from the handbook or sign your kids up for camp. I would love to see what you all come up with!
