Welcome to the La Quinta Resort & Club. What an entrance!
The La Quinta Resort (not to be confused with the hotel chain La Quinta Inn) is a Waldorf Astoria property located in La Quinta, CA right outside of Palm Springs. We spent the weekend here celebrating both our anniversary and my birthday. It was our first time visiting this property, but quickly become one of our favorites in the desert. Here is everything you need to know before booking your trip!
For starters, the history! While checking in at the lobby, you can view many old photos of the resort from the 1920’s. The bones are pretty much the same and I can just picture Clark Gable and Ginger Rodgers, who frequented here often, strolling through these halls. The timeless vibe gives it so much charm!
And while it is strikingly similar to it’s original, there are some more modern additions. The resort is expansive and has it all! The property has two of its own golf courses and is associated with PGA West offering even more courses all tucked alongside the mountains. It is one of the world’s top tennis resorts with multiple courts and a variety of lessons. There is a fitness center with classes, yoga by the fountain, and they even have bicycle rentals (so fun!). A little more up my alley is the world famous Spa La Quinta, which is right behind us in the photo below. There really is something for everyone!

One thing I love most about this resort is that you don’t need to leave to eat (which can be quite the effort with two little kids). There are seven fantastic restaurants on the property ranging from grab & go cafes, authentic Mexican dining, to a fancy steakhouse. To be honest, the majority of our food was ordered and delivered to the pool, Hayden recommends the chicken tenders š We did have dinner at the Adobe Grill one of the nights. It was so good! They made fresh guacamole right at our table and offered us a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary. After dinner they had live music playing on the patio and the girls got to dance and shake mini tambourines!
The resort has 41 pools, yes you read that right, FORTY ONE! There is a main pool area with a huge bar, food service, and kiddie pool. We spent most of our time there with the kids as it was perfect for their age. The kids played in the one foot deep pool while the adults sipped on a cocktail under the umbrellas. If you visit without kids, there is an adults only pool that does a happy hour in collaboration with the premier champagne brand, Veuve Clicquot. My girlfriend and I stopped over there and tried one of their cocktails, The Citrus Oasis, which was delicious! The other smaller pools are spread out all over the resort right outside every room.
We had the best time staying at La Quinta Resort. Every small detail was thought of from the fragrant citrus trees lining the walkways to the historical nostalgia. We loved the little tile memorabilia they left in our room as well. It is a high-quality property, with top notch service, and access to countless amenities. We will definitely be back to this desert jewel!
