I have been switching up my beauty products lately and wanted to share with you all what I’ve been loving. It’s been awhile since I wrote about what’s in my makeup bag, which is a more condensed version of all the things I can’t live without. Giant eyeshadow palettes are fun and there is definitely a spot for them on my vanity, but this post is dedicated to the products that are tried and true, I use on a daily basis, and I absolutely know will perform when I have no backup plan.
Products
In order…
Kiehl’s Sunscreen – This is a new one for me that I have been using daily. I am trying to get better at wearing sunscreen (especially since I’ve been having my sun spots removed, more on that to come..). This one is combined with a moisturizer, not greasy, and doesn’t make me break out!
Becca Backlight Primer – I love a fresh, dewy glow and this primer works wonders! I wear this everyday, even if I don’t have any other makeup on.
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation – This is a new one for me! I recently switched from the Estee Lauder Double Wear (which was too matte for my already dry skin). This one is medium-full coverage and contains both coconut water and hyaluronic acid to improve hydration. I will say it doesn’t last as long as the Estee Lauder unless you set it with a powder. I wear shade Nude.
Tarte’s Shape Tape – Still using this concealer, nothing even comes close to this one! I wear shade light neutral.
Kat Von D Shade & Light – This is also a new one for me! I use it to mainly set my under eye concealer and occasionally darken up my contour if I’m tan.
Coty Airspun Translucent Powder – I set the rest of my face with this. It helps the foundation last much longer! However, be aware this gives a flashback if worn at night. And it smells exactly like your grandma… but one of the best setting powders and a great price!
Hoola Bronzer – An oldie but a goodie! I use this for my daily contour and to bronze up the face.
NARS Blush – Been using this for years! Blends beautifully and provides a natural flush to the cheeks.
All Nighter Setting Spray – I never really used setting spray until a few months ago and holy moly does it work! It melts all the powders together so you don’t look so matte/dry and lengthens the wear time. Try the travel size first to see if you like it!
Becca Champagne Pop – I have been using this for years to highlight the tops of my cheeks, tip of my nose, and cupid’s bow. Will occasionally put this on my eyes as well. Recently, I started doing this after the setting spray while my face is still damp to really enhance it!
Benefit Brows – After my face is dry from the setting spray, I use this to fill in my brows. I’ve had it forever and love that it’s an all-in-one with the angled brush.
Collab Mascara – This is also a new one for me. It’s super affordable from Sally’s Beauty line and it makes your eyelashes look like false lashes! I typically use 2-3 coats. Make sure you get the pink one!
For lips…
This is my new fav lip combo and it deserves a category of it’s own! I got so many questions about it on Instagram and a few of you even asked if it was one of the Kylie lip kits. But I am happy to report it is a super affordable, drugstore lip combo! It’s neutral, great for everyday wear, and gives you the cutest girly pout!
Liner – NYX in “peekaboo neutral”
Lipstick – Wet n Wild in “send nudes”
Gloss – Morphe in “Flower Crown”
Tips For Long-lasting Makeup:
#1 Use A Primer
It will seal in your moisturizer and give your foundation a smooth, even surface. I also acts as a barrier to prevent makeup from being absorbed.
#2 Don’t Be Afraid Of Powders
I used to shy away from powders because I have dry skin and prefer a dewy finish. But powders will help lock in your foundation and concealer, then use a setting mist to melt them all together and prevent looking dry.
#3 Use A Setting Spray
Think of it as a hairspray for your face. They help prevent smudging and creasing, while helping your makeup to last longer.
#4 Fill In Lips With Liner
Often times liner will last longer then your lipstick, so by filling in more of your lip then just the edges there will be color there when your lipstick is gone. It also provides grip for your lipstick.
#5 Use Light Layers
Build up your makeup products in light layers. This will keep it looking more natural, but will also last way longer then applying one heavy layer.
