I get asked often what my daily schedule looks like and how I am able to juggle everything as a work from home mom. My not so secret answer is… a routine! I don’t know about you, but I thrive on routine. It keeps me productive. It keeps me purposeful. It keeps me sane. Having a routine means I don’t have to spend so much time planning because things are consistent from day to day or week to week. I rely on it to get everything done and it helps to reduce stress because I’m not trying to plan on the fly. I do have a few tips that I wanted to share to help inspire you to create a productive daily routine in your own lives!

Everyday is a little different, but this is a typical Thursday for me.

Schedule

7:00 am – Wake up, have coffee while I check emails and try to get an hour of work done before the girls wake up or while they play.

8:00 am – Make breakfast for the girls, pack lunches, get myself ready, throw in a load of laundry.

9:00 am – One more quick work check-in and get small work tasks done.

9:30 am – Take Gracyn to school. I park and walk her to class so it takes a little longer.

10:00 am – This hour is always different. Sometimes I workout or walk at the beach, or if needed I take photos on my tripod (will link everything below).

11:00 am – Hayden’s dance class. This is my favorite mom hack, sign your kid up for an activity and bring your laptop for an hour of uninterrupted work time. I will edit the photos I just took or get things done for my other job.

12:00 – Go home, feed Hayden lunch, move laundry around and some light cleaning.

1:00 pm – Pick up Gracyn from school (her kindergarten is half day).

1:30/2:00 pm – Put Hayden down for nap and Gracyn does quiet time. This is my “power hour” to get more work done on the computer. I will write blog posts, catch up on work, conference calls, etc.

4:00 pm – If I need to run to Target or the grocery store this is typically when I go. Otherwise the girls play in the backyard and I get things done around the house.

5:00 pm – Make dinner.

5:30 pm – Jeff gets home. We eat dinner, relax, watch shows, hang out with the kids, walk the dogs.

7:30 pm – Start bedtime routine, baths, etc.

8:00 pm – We put the kids to bed together and read books.

8:15 pm – Usually on my laptop in bed for another hour while Jeff watches a show or reads. Finishing up work, blogging, paying bills online, shopping online, etc.

9:30 pm – My nighttime routine and self care. Self tanning, paint nails, serums.. it’s always different.

10:30 pm – Bedtime!

After writing all this out, I think the overall theme to this routine is WORK WHEN YOU CAN. I thrive on routines, but I know that with kids things don’t always go to plan. I almost always have my laptop with me and do a lot from my phone as well. Take advantage of those times when you are sitting in your car at school pick up or while your toddler is in a class.

Your daily routine speaks volumes about who you are, what’s important to you, what you choose to make time for, and how you live your life. I hope seeing my exact daily routine gives you some insight into ways you can fit in more time for your business or side hustle. You got this!
