Hi everyone!! We just got back from the most magical vacation in Cabo! My husband and I traveled down there to celebrate our five year anniversary and my 28th birthday. This was our first real vacation together without kids since our oldest was born. We typically bring them along and I have even gone as far as booking them a flight the day before we left for a “kid-free” trip because I couldn’t leave them (no shame! haha). I don’t think either of us could actually believe we were alone when we got off the plane. I couldn’t shake the feeling of forgetting the diaper bag or stroller. But it was soooo nice to relax and enjoy each other’s company. We definitely need to start doing this more often!
You guys already know I love Cabo. I was just here a few months ago with some girlfriends and you can read all about that trip here. What I love most about this destination is that it is so easy to get to from San Diego. It is a quick two hour flight and I don’t feel like we waste a whole day just traveling. The less time spent traveling means more time spent relaxing in a pool, which is super important when you are leaving kids behind. I don’t want to leave them longer then necessary just to spend time in a plane. So Cabo for the WIN!
Once we land in Cabo we always use Victor’s Cabo Transportation. They pick you up in a nice SUV and provide beer and water for the drive to your hotel. We also use them for transportation back to the airport, they have always been on time and very friendly. Highly recommend.
Where We Stayed
This was our first time staying at The Cape Hotel. I have been wanting to stay here for so long but always chose more family friendly resorts (aka pools with water slides) in the past. Since we didn’t have the kids with us, I knew this would be a great time to stay here! The grounds are absolutely breathtaking, there are two infinity pools, an award winning restaurant, and super modern decor. There is also a swim up bar which was my husband’s only request in a hotel I chose… #priorities. We stayed in a deluxe king room with a private balcony that had a hanging daybed overlooking the ocean. My favorite part about the room was the huge walk-in rainfall shower and the copper tub in the middle of the room.
The service here is top notch! When we checked in there was a complementary bottle of tequila and a hand written note waiting for us. The first evening which was our anniversary they had a bottle of champagne and dessert brought up to our room. Then on my birthday they delivered a mini chocolate cake. These were such thoughtful gestures and made us feel so special! Everywhere you went in the hotel the staff was friendly and smiling, they pulled out chairs, laid out your towel at the pool, it was so nice to be pampered!
Where We Ate
Remember when I said above that all my husband requested was a swim up bar? Well all I requested (aka demanded) was to eat at Flora Farms. I had seen photos of this magical place on Instagram and heard friends brag about it. And let me tell ya, it lived up to all my expectations!
Flora Farms is a fully functioning farm in the foothills of Cabo. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous with tropical plants galore and twinkly lights. There is a full restaurant here and a wine bar, along with some cute boutique shops. We got there early and spent almost an hour walking around with a glass of wine before we ate. The food was fantastic! We kept saying we wish we could bring our entire family back here. It really is such a magical place and I already want to go back. If you ever go to Cabo, this is a must!
And that’s about it! We pretty much just relaxed by the pool and ate for four days straight. It was heaven! We did have a fishing trip planned that got canceled due to the rain one morning, but that’s okay, next time! It was so nice spending quality time together, reconnecting, and just being on our own schedule. Hoping we can do this more often and not wait another five years!
Please let me know if you have any questions about our trip or want some additional recommendations. Happy to help you plan your own vacation! 🙂
